TRADING ORDER TYPES
Learn about different cryptocurrency order types on Maxbit Thailand. Understand Market Orders, Limit Orders, Stop Orders and Stop Limit Orders to secure better trades and maximize your profits.
What Are Trading Orders?
A trading order is an instruction you give to the cryptocurrency exchange to buy or sell a specific digital asset at certain conditions. Different order types give you more control over your trade execution price, timing, and strategy.
Understanding order types is essential for successful crypto trading in Thailand. Whether you're a beginner buying your first Bitcoin or an experienced trader managing a large portfolio, choosing the right order type can significantly impact your trading results.
Maxbit offers seven main order types: Market Order, Limit Order, Stop Market Order, Stop-Limit Order, Trailing Stop Order, Auto DCA (Dollar Cost Averaging), and Grid Trading. Each serves different purposes and trading strategies.
Buy or Sell cryptocurrency immediately at the current best execution market price.
How Quick Orders Work
When you place a Quick Trade order, Maxbit executes your order at the best available market price at that moment. If Bitcoin is quoted at THB 2,180,000, your order will be filled close to that price, but the final execution price may vary slightly depending on market liquidity, price movement, and your selected slippage tolerance, which is typically between 0.5% and 1% depending on asset.
Quick Trade prioritizes speed and best price. As a licensed Digital Asset Broker regulated by the SEC of Thailand, Maxbit routes your order to available trading venues to find the best execution price for you, acting as your agent, not as a counterparty. This means you get competitive pricing without needing to manage limit orders manually.
Example: Quick Trade Order
- Amount (THB)
- 1,090,000 THB
- Amount (BTC)
- 0.5 BTC
- Order type
- Quick Buy
- Execution
- Best Price
*Final price may vary slightly due to market conditions at time of execution.

check_circleAdvantages

warningDisadvantages
- Final price may vary from the initial quote

- Less suitable for very large order sizes
- No fill at a specific target price
Buy or sell cryptocurrency only at your specified price or better.
How Limit Orders Work
A limit order lets you set the exact price you want to buy or sell at. Your order only executes when the market reaches your specified price level. For example, if Bitcoin is at 2,180,000 and you place a limit buy order at 2,150,000, your order will only fill if the price drops to 2,150,000 or lower.
Limit orders give you price control but don't guarantee execution. Your order sits in the order book until the market price meets your limit price, or you cancel it.
Example: Limit Buy Order
- Your limit price
- 2,150,000
- Amount
- 0.5 BTC
- Order type
- Limit Order
- Status
- Waiting for 2,150,000
When to Use Limit Orders
- check_circleYou want to buy at a lower price or sell at a higher price
- check_circleNot in a rush — willing to wait for your target price
- check_circleWant to avoid price slippage on large orders
- check_circleSetting up automated trading strategies
- check_circleCatching price dips or peaks while away from screen
check_circleAdvantages
- Full price control — you set the exact price
- Better prices than market orders
- Reduces slippage on large orders
- Can set and forget — order waits for your price
warningDisadvantages
- No guarantee of execution — price may not reach your level
- May miss opportunities if market moves away
- Requires monitoring to adjust price if needed
- Partial fills possible (only some of your order fills)
Automatically triggers a Quick Order when the market reaches your stop price.
It is designed for fast execution and can be used for stop-loss protection or entry on price movement.
How Stop Quick Orders Work
A Stop Quick Order lets you set a stop price in advance. When the market price reaches that level, Maxbit automatically sends a Quick Order to execute as fast as possible at the current market price. This order type is useful when speed matters more than precise price control. It helps you react quickly to market movements without placing the order manually.
For example, if BTC is trading at 2,200,000 and you want to limit downside risk, you can set a Stop Quick Sell order at 2,100,000. If the price drops to 2,100,000, the system triggers the order automatically and sells at the best available market price.
Example: Stop-Loss Order
- Bought BTC at
- 2,180,000
- Current Price
- 2,200,000
- Your stop price
- 2,100,000
- Max loss
- 80,000 (-3.7%)
When to Use Stop Market Orders
- check_circleProtect profits by locking in gains if the price reverses.
- check_circleLimit losses by exiting a position before losses grow larger.
- check_circleManage risk by automatically cutting losing trades.
- check_circleUse automatic protection when you cannot monitor the market 24/7.
- check_circleReact quickly in volatile markets where fast execution is important.
check_circleAdvantages
- Automated risk management that works 24/7.
- Helps reduce emotional decision-making during sharp market moves.
- Can limit maximum loss on a trade.
- Useful for active and professional trading strategies.
warningDisadvantages
- May trigger during short-term price dips.
- Execution price is not guaranteed.
- The order may fill at a different price than expected in volatile markets.
- Slippage can occur during rapid price movement.
Automatically triggers a limit order when price reaches your stop price.
Used for precise entries and exits with controlled execution price.
How Stop Limit Orders Work
A Stop Limit Order combines a stop trigger with a limit order so you can control both when the order starts and at what price it is placed.
You set two prices:
- Stop Price — the trigger price that activates the order.
- Limit Price — the price at which your limit order will be placed in the order book.
When the market reaches your stop price, Maxbit automatically submits a limit order at your limit price. The order will only be filled if the market trades at that price or better, giving you tighter control over execution.
For example, you buy Bitcoin at 2,000,000 and want to limit potential losses without selling too low. You can place a Stop Limit Sell with a stop price at 1,900,000 and a limit price at 1,880,000. If the market falls to 1,900,000, Maxbit sends a Limit Sell order at 1,880,000. Maxbit will route the order to the set price.
Example: Stop Limit Sell (Stop Loss)
- Bought BTC at
- 2,000,000
- Current Price
- 1,950,000
- Stop price
- 1,900,000
- Limit price
- 1,880,000
Example: Stop Limit Buy (Breakout Entry)
- Bought BTC at
- 1,950,000
- Resistance Level
- 2,000,000
- Stop price
- 2,000,000
- Limit price
- 2,010,000
When to Use Stop Limit Orders
- check_circleBreakout trading: Enter a position only after price breaks a key level, while limiting the maximum entry price.
- check_circleStop-loss with price control: Exit when price falls to a risk threshold but avoid selling below a defined minimum price.
- check_circleRange or stable markets: Useful when price does not move violently and there is enough liquidity to fill limit orders.
- check_circlePlanned entries and exits: Ideal for traders who want to pre-define both trigger and execution price without monitoring the market constantly.
check_circleAdvantages
- Precise price control through Limit Price.
- Helps avoid unwanted fills at extreme prices during sudden spikes or crashes.
- Supports advanced strategies like breakout entries and structured stop-loss levels.
- Useful for disciplined trading plans, reducing emotional decisions and over-reactions.
warningDisadvantages
- Order may not be filled if the market moves quickly past your Limit Price.
- In fast, illiquid, or highly volatile markets, you might miss the exit or entry completely.
- Requires careful selection of Stop Price and Limit Price; poor settings can reduce effectiveness.
- Not ideal when absolute execution (at any price) is more important than price precision.
Automatically follows the price in your favor and sends an order when it reverses
by your chosen trailing percentage, available for both Limit and Market orders.
How Trailing Stop Orders Work
A trailing stop becomes active immediately after you place it. For a Sell order, the system tracks the highest market price reached after activation; for a Buy order, it tracks the lowest market price.
When the market reverses by your selected trailing percentage, the trailing stop is triggered and the system sends your chosen order type. With Limit, the order is placed on the order book at your specified limit price. With Market, the system attempts immediate execution based on available liquidity.
Ex. Trailing Stop Sell with Limit Order
Use this when you want to protect profits while still giving the price room to rise. The order starts tracking immediately and follows the highest market price upward.

check_circleAdvantages
- Protects profits automatically as price moves in your favor.
- Lets winning trades run longer while still defining a clear exit level.
- Reduces the need for constant manual stop-loss updates.
- Flexible configuration via Trailing Delta (percentage or amount) to match different assets and volatility levels.
warningDisadvantages
- If Trailing Delta is set too tight, normal noise can trigger the stop prematurely.
- In fast or illiquid markets, slippage may occur and execution price can differ from the stop level.
- Does not guarantee a fill at the exact trailing price, especially when using Quick (market-style) execution.
- Requires testing and experience to choose appropriate trailing percentages for each market and strategy.
When to Use Trailing Stop Orders
- check_circleLocking in profits during strong trends while still giving trades room to grow.
- check_circleWhen you trade breakouts or high-momentum moves.
- check_circleAutomated risk management in volatile markets.
- check_circleMedium-term trades where you want to "let winners run".
